Calvary Hill Baptist Church
Senior Ministry - We're Seniors in Action!
You're only as old as you feel and here at Calvary Hill, senior adults form a significant, vibrant part of our congregation! We have opportunities and activities for participation in ministries for all aspects of church life, such as Bible Study, lunches, outings, ministry to the hungry, Helping Hands and more. Our Senior's Pastor Ruth Muhlbauer brings pertinent and exciting venues to our seniors and they keep her on her toes! Join us and you'll only ask yourself what took you so long!
On Sunday mornings from 10:00-11:00 three classes are provided: a men's Bible study class, a women's Bible study class, and the Discipleship Forum - a mixed-age group class
~Senior Thursdays -
1st & 3rd Thursdays of each month, Lunch Bunch meets from 11:00-1:00. We have a bible study, a movie, or other group activity from 11:00-11:45, and then have lunch. Everyone brings his/her own sandwich, and a dessert and beverage are provided.
~Ministry Outreach Projects
Seniors participate in church-wide outreach projects such as making cards for our troops overseas, donating food to Food for Others, and donating toiletries and other items for the Lamb Center. They also participate in our monthly Helping Hands ministry, which is an outreach for adults with special needs. The seniors also provide crocheted blankets for newborns in a local crisis pregnancy ministry, as well as blankets for nursing home residents.
Calvary Hill is a member of the Shepherd's Center, which provides various services to the senior adult community of the Fairfax-Burke area. Our seniors are encouraged both to participate in the various learning/social programs of the Center, as well as provide their own volunteer services as drivers or telephone callers to other seniors.
